Can I upload music that I didn’t write?
No. I thought about letting you do it if the artist gave you permission. But proving you have permission gets tricky. So the answer is no. If you’d like their music on the site, please have them register for a free account and upload it themselves.
You can upload music that is public domain if you have written an original arrangement of the song. This is the only exception; and the song must be public domain.
How can I record my music?
Your computer might have a built in microphone. But these aren’t ideal for recording music. So I suggest getting a cheap microphone for your computer. You can use free software like the sound recorder that comes with Windows Vista to make a wav recording.
Another option would be to ask someone at your church for help. They may already have recording software tied into their sound system, which would produce a higher quality recording.
How can I convert my recording into an mp3?
I use free software made by Renan Broquin called Free Converter from http://www.koyotesoft.com/. You can download other wav to mp3 conversion software from http://www.download.com/.
How can I make a picture for my music?
Use a photo or create an image. You can use the Paint software that comes free with Windows to edit your image. Change the image attributes to be a square image, preferably 100 x 100 pixels. When saving your file, change the filetype to jpg or gif.
How can I become a featured artist?
Upload your awesome music. Then refer your friends to the site. If others include your user number when they register, this will increase your chance of being chosen as a featured artist.
How can I tell others about my music?
Use the Refer A Friend page to tell others about the site. If you'd like to link them directly to your music, navigate to any of your songs. Then choose the More link. This will take you to a page like this... http://worship.myownlittlereality.com/music.php?idx=### except the ### will be the number associated with your song. Copy that web address and send it to your friends. They'll have a link straight to your song, and your other songs will be listed at the bottom of the page.
How can I edit my custom text? It says "This user has not yet entered a custom text."
When you registered for your free account on this site, that line was automagically added to our database. You can edit your custom text on the My Account page. Use it to include a description of yourself or your album. Or use it to link to your personal PayPal Donate button.
How can I accept Pay Pal donations through this site?
Create a free account on PayPal. Go to their Merchant Services section. In the Create Buttons section of this page, choose Donate. Follow their instructions to get the encrypted code for the button. I recommend chosing Yes for button encryption. It will give you a long series of random letters and numbers. In the More Options section (if you choose to add more options), you can use http://worship.myownlittlereality.com/thankyou.php for the Successful Payment URL and http://worship.myownlittlereality.com/ for the Cancel Payment URL. Choose no shipping needed. Once you have that code, copy and paste it into your Custom Text on the My Account page.
How can I add, edit, or change an audio (mp3) or image (jpg or gif) file for my song?
If you need to add / change an audio (mp3) or image (jpg or gif) file for your song, the best way to do that (at this time) is to start from scratch. Sorry, I know that's a pain. But I haven't written the software for it yet (yes, I have a real job that occupies most of my time, heheheheeee). So, go to the My Account page and click Edit next to the song you want to edit. Then copy what you need to from that page. Then upload your song from the beginning of the process on the Upload page. Then BE SURE TO DELETE the old one (from the My Account page). Otherwise it will show up twice.
How can I edit or change my email address?
Login. Then go to the My Account page. Change your email address in the "Update your account information" section.
How can I create a PDF file of my sheet music?
You'll need some free software, but the good news is it's free and simple. The program acts like a printer, but instead of printing stuff on paper it saves it in a pdf file. It's called do pdf. It works from almost any program. So after you type up your sheet music, you choose Print, then select the printer to be do pdf. Then instead of printing on paper, it saves what you printed into a file. This is the pdf file you'll upload to this site. Adobe makes a free Acrobat Reader that can open pdf files.
Do I need special software to open, view, or print the sheet music?
Adobe makes a free Acrobat Reader that can open, view, and print pdf files.
What if I don't have sheet music for my song?
You have several options...
You can type the lyrics of your song and upload them.
You can upload a document that says, "Sorry, sheet music not available" (although we would prefer you not use this option).
You can contact us about having a leadsheet made for free.
How can I write a song review?
Think how good it feels when someone says something positive about your music (or something you've made). Let's take every opportunity we can to encourage each other on towards worshipping our Lord! When writing a review, talk about the song itself (the lyrics, the theme, the rhythm and rhyme, the Scriptural basis, etc.) instead of talking about the recording of the song (the skill of the band, the volume, the quality of the recording). Not everyone has professional recording equipment. Remember, our goal is to share new music with each other, not to produce radio-quality recordings.
You can also listen to the song while you write the review (this may help make your comments more specific). Press the PLAY button on the LISTEN tab. Then click Community Reviews to begin writing your review. (You must be logged in to write a review).
